2023 Vrbo Citrus Bowl Set For January 2 Kickoff

The game date and kickoff time for Orlando’s Vrbo Citrus Bowl were announced on Thursday as part of ESPN’s 2022-23 college football schedule release.

The 2023 Vrbo Citrus Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 2 at Camping World Stadium. The matchup will pit the Big Ten Conference against the Southeastern Conference and will be televised on ABC.

The 77th edition of the game will be the seventh to fall on Jan. 2 and the fifth since the Citrus Bowl moved to its traditional New Year’s Day window at the end of the 1986-87 season:

  • 2-Jan-56 Tangerine Bowl Juniata 6 Missouri Valley 6

  • 2-Jan-95 Florida Citrus Bowl #6 Alabama 24 #13 Ohio State 17
  • 2-Jan-06 Capital One Bowl #20 Wisconsin 24 #7 Auburn 10
  • 2-Jan-12 Capital One Bowl #9 South Carolina 30 #20 Nebraska 13

In last season’s Vrbo Citrus Bowl, No. 22 Kentucky beat the 15th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes 20-17. Wildcats wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson earned MVP honors with 10 catches for 170 yards, including a 52-yard catch with 2 minutes left to play to set up Kentucky’s game-winning touchdown.
